NOTICE OF
CLINIC AND RACE
1. Rules The
regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing
and changed by Appendix D – Team Racing Rules, and by the 2004 Rules for JSA
Events.
2. Eligibility
and Entry
2.1 Entries may be made by full and provisional member
clubs of the JSA. Two or more clubs may combine to form one team. Each club
whose entry is accepted must send one team with a minimum of 6 sailors and a
maximum of 8 sailors, plus one coach or other adult.
2.2 Competitors must meet the eligibility requirements of
the 2004 Rules for JSA Events.
2.3 Entry forms, fees, JSA waivers and medical release
forms for each member of a team must be received with that team's entry at the
JSA office no later than 1400 on
2.4 The entry fee is $400 per team, which includes both
the clinic and regatta. One check payable to the JSA of LIS should be submitted
with the entry form.
2.5 A maximum of 12 teams will be accepted. If more than
12 entries are received, the 12 teams will be chosen based on the order in
which their complete entries were received.
2.6 Each team must attend the clinic on their assigned day
(either Tuesday, July 6, or Wednesday, July 7) or they will not be permitted to
sail in the regatta.
3. Format
3.1 The clinics and regatta will be held at the United
States Merchant Marine Academy in

land-based sessions covering team racing tactics, team racing rules and a
review of the regatta format.
3.3 The clinic and regatta will be sailed in collegiate
Flying Juniors with no spinnakers or trapezes. There will be three boats per
team.
3.4 The regatta format will be announced at the skippers'
meeting.
3.5 Unlimited substitution of skippers and crews (from
among each club's team of 6 to 8 sailors) will be permitted during the clinics
and regatta.
4. Schedule: Tuesday, July 6 or Wednesday, July 7 – Team Racing Clinics
Wednesday and Thursday, July 14 and 15 – McIntyre Trophy Regatta

day. Assignments will be announced by July 2
and, if
necessary, will be based on order of receipt of completed entry form.

Note that the entry deadline is July 1, but sending in
an entry by this deadline does not guarantee acceptance. If more than 12
entries are received, or if more than 6 teams apply for either clinic date,
acceptances will be based on the order in which complete entries were received.
