Austin Anderson from Centerport YC and LISOT won the National Team Trials regatta in Miami, Fl April 29-May 2, earning a spot on the US Optimist Worlds Team. Emily Dellenbaugh from Pequot YC finished in 6th place, earning a spot on the European Championship team. Scott Furnary finished 22, earning a spot on the North American team. Other JSA sailors earning team berths in the 158 boat event include Alex Takata from Larchmont YC and last year's LIS champion, who earned a spot on the US National Team, as did Geoff Craz from West Hampton YC. Emily Hammel from Noroton YC (who also qualified for the Flanders international team), Drew Hall from Rocky Point Club, Matt Zupon (Larchmont), Wesley Yland (Centerport), and Matt and Paul Wefer (Seacliff) all qualified for the US Development Team. The other five JSA sailors who made up the LISOT team included Eamon Glackin (Centerport), Willem Sandberg (Noroton), Emily Stubbs (American), Jordan Factor (Cedar Point YC), and Ian Storck (Centerport). The regatta consisted of 12 races over three days in near-ideal steady 15-18 kt winds, yielding the fairest team selection conditions in years.
