As a service to our members, the JSA provides free Classified Ads. However, "Lost and Found" should be limited to JSA events or program activities and "Job Bank" should be limited to jobs at JSA member clubs. Older listings may be removed by JSA office after two months; but you may resubmit a listing that has been removed.

USA 7311 - IOD Opti for Sale

Mixed-up Pixel trailers at 2008 Larchmont Race Week

At the end of Larchmont Junior Race Week last summer, some Pixel sailors grabbed the wrong trailers. Bruce Kirby, the Pixel designer, is still looking for his Venture trailer, VIN 47GBV16185B003639. Bruce ended up with another Venture trailer, VIN 47GBV16156B004166, which is not his.
Neither of these trailers has a license plate, so if you have a Venture trailer, please check the VIN number. The VIN number can be found on a sticker near the winch stand on the side of the tongue of the trailer. 2006 Club 420 Sail #4833
This is a 2006, fully racing rigged, PS2000 C420. The boat comes with two sets of sails, racing and practice, both in good condition as well as a racing and practice spinnaker, one in fair condition and the other lightly used. All lines have been replaced in the last season including the mainsheet, jib sheets, spinnaker sheets, spinnaker halyard, Cunningham and outhaul. The boat has been kept in excellent condition and comes complete with top and bottom covers, mast cover, rudder bag, dolly and a trailer. The boat was d to sail with the LISOT team this year and has many modifications employed in racing by the team including, but not limited to a custom cut jib and jib Cunningham, rigging settings for varying wind conditions and a stiffer spinnaker pole used on the Vanguard C420. Description: The Hempstead Harbour Club located in Glen Cove, New York on the North Shore of Long Island, is seeking a Sailing Instructor for the 2010 Season and beyond. The Hempstead Harbour Club is a member of JSA and a founding member of the Yacht Racing Association of Long Island Sound. It has up-to-date facilities for the launching, retrieval and maintenance of boats, and offers a friendly, supportive atmosphere for its Juniors, who range in age from 8 to 15 years old. Class instruction and coaching is done in the Club’s Optis, Pixels and Blue Jays with support boats. Regular lessons run for seven weeks from the end of June through mid-August, and are conducted Monday through Thursday, with Fridays reserved for regattas, coaching and boat maintenance. Travel to JSA Regattas with the Juniors is expected of instructors. Salary is commensurate with experience and is competitive with what is paid by other Long Island Sound clubs. US Sailing Level 1 Certifications together with First Aid, CPR and power boat training will be required prior to the start of the Program, but the Club reimburses its instructors for successful completion of pre-approved US Sailing and JSA Courses and Workshops. The Club is currently seeking one instructor for the 2010 season to augment its existing staff. We are looking for mature, enthusiastic applicants with solid sailing experience, and good organizational and communication skills. A racing resume is a plus, but not required.

Roton Point Association - Head Instructor Position 2010

Description: Roton Point is looking for a dynamic head instructor to lead our junior sailing program. The tradition at Roton Point is to teach the love of sailing through a disciplined, nurturing, encouraging and relaxing atmosphere. Last year our program consisted of 30 Optimist sailors and 10 Pixel sailors. Throughout the summer the sailors participate in weekly activities such as Halloween at Sea, Pirate Day, and Olympic Day. At least once during the summer the sailors and their families participate in a Family Fun Night. Roton Point also hosts an annual Green Fleet Regatta in late July. Last year a race team was established and was led by the head instructor. The team consisted of 12 experienced and dedicated sailors who participated in 5 regattas. Six of these sailors qualified and participated in the Optimist Championships. In addition to the race team our other experienced sailors participated in a navigation program. This year we are expecting to create a Big Boat Program.

The head instructor will lead 4-5 other instructors and work closely with the director of junior sailing. The head instructor is to act professional at all times, have excellent communication skills with children as well as adults, have experience as an instructor for at least 4 years, be able to operate power boats, and have all necessary sailing instructor certifications.
