The emphasis is on teaching safe sailing the fun way and helping them to grow into great sailors. No traveling to regattas on weekends. You must be US Sailing Level 1 certified with current CPR and First Aid certifications. Our community sailing program is comprised of Grades 5 - 9 in four 2-week sessions during which each group sails for half-days, plus two 1-week full-day sailing sessions. There is also 1 week of Grades 3 - 4 and a Tuesday night program for Teens. If you are keelboat certified we could use you April to November!

Larchmont Shore Club - Sailing Instructor and Dock Manager

Description: Larchmont Shore Club is looking for one additional sailing instructor and one dock manager for the 2008 summer season. We are looking for energetic, mature instructors to continue to grow our rapidly expanding program. We had approximately 60 sailors last summer, and are making a substantial investment in new boats for the coming summer. The program is more relaxed than many club programs, and we place an emphasis not only on safety and skills, but also on having a fun summer! The sailing program consists of both a morning and afternoon sailing session, for 8 to 16 year olds, sailing Optis, Blue Jays, Pixels and Lasers. Applicants for Instructor and Dock Manager should have a passion for sailing and working with youth, good interpersonal skills with sailors, parents and club staff, a primary concern for safety, and the ability to work as part of a team. Instructor applicants must be at least 18 years old by the beginning of the program, should have a minimum of 1 year of coaching or counseling experience and must have a Level 1 US Sailing certification. Dock Manager applicants must be at least 16 years old, but do not need certifications or prior work experience.
