Additional Notes:

Age:
A sailor's age on December 31 of each year shall be considered his/her age for any event during that year except for Optimist events where the competitor's age on the first day of the event will determine eligibility.

Fleet:
Programs shall designate competitors as either Novice or Open sailors.
Open Events: All Blue Jay Open competitors must be at least 12 years old.
Novice Events: A sailor who skippers in any 420, Laser, Laser Radial or Blue Jay Open event shall be thereafter ineligible to skipper or crew in a Blue Jay Novice event.

Weight:
For a two-person crew, the helmsperson and crew must weigh a minimum of 190 pounds fully dressed for sailing. No ballast is permitted. No waivers will be given for this minimum weight. There is no minimum weight for a 3-person crew (this is new for 2007).


Blue Jay Buoyancy Requirements

The JSA requires that all Blue Jays sailed in any JSA regatta, or function, must be equipped with two legal (properly inflated), reinforced nylon, air bags. One air bag will be attached forward of the mast under the deck and the other will be attached in the stern.
